PROBLEM: In the U.S. 51% of the population is female, but women make up only 18% of the U.S. Congress.

SO THE QUESTION BECOMES: How can we get qualified women to say “YES, I want to run for office.”?

 

WomenElect has developed a unique strategy:

 

• Extended, in-depth training and coaching process that focuses on teaching the unique skills required of candidates for elected office, including, but not limited to, thorough training in fundraising, public speaking, image development, press/media relations, and leadership development. The training program also includes individualized critical assessments to determine each program participants strengths, weaknesses and viability as a future candidate

• WomenElect is a network of chapters  across New York State, some that are established and others that are forming. These chapters network with professional groups to introduce WomenElect’s unique program of assessment, leadership development, and training that is designed to prepare them to run for office in the future.

 

WomenElect is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that helps women who support reproductive rights build their financial and volunteer networks and fully understand the process of running for elected office so that they are prepared and supported when they are ready to say ”YES, I am ready to run for office!”
